Full chemical and physical analysis of samples are required in order to develop a suitable binder. Picko diligently analyze the materials of clients and we do an extensive range of analysis, physical as well as chemical in our laboratory. Samples are also sent to independent laboratories for XRD and XRF analysis to have a complete chemical perspective on what we work with.



Optimum compaction moisture, sieve analysis and micro scopic test work are some of the physical analysis done on samples received, while pH and interaction with other chemicals are some of the chemical analysis that are done on the samples received in our LAB.


It is important to be aware of the chemical nature of the samples in elementary as well as mineral form. There are other analysis techniques availble if necessary.


Before we begin with any binder research, we do in-house developed compaction and moisture testwork. Without the moisture and compaction qualities optimized, the performance and strength of your product are compromized.


With optimal moisture and compaction determined, the binder test work commence. Gathering information from the chemical and physical analysis, we can narrow down the binders that can be tested on the samples. There's a vast range of binders available. The binders that performed the best are then further developed using the same procedure until optimal performance have been reached.


Here the ratios of the various materials from the client are optimized to maximize strength and heat grade.

After initial laboratory test work we confirm our LAB results on a small scale pilot plant, which represents similar conditions as a full-scale high-output production plant. It gives the true scope of what happens in full-scale plant conditions and is crucial to determine exactly what equipment is needed for a successful agglomeration process.


After the test work has been completed, Picko will supply the client with a site-specific formal proposal, including results of Lab test work, pilot plant studies, capital expenditure, time of delivery and cost of operation.
